It covers the full range of accommodation-service work, including front desk, planning and promotion, guest service, and restaurant service. Incidental duties such as cleaning are allowed when attached to the main work, but assigning only incidental work is not permitted.
How much hiring capacity is available?
The acceptance cap for the accommodation field is 14,800 people (under the January 2026 Cabinet decision), while actual residents stood at 1,968 at the end of December 2025, leaving substantial room below the cap. Institutionally, this is a field with broad hiring potential.
Where can the examination be taken?
The 宿泊業技能測定試験 is administered in Japan and overseas. Overseas venues and schedules must be checked at the time of recruitment through notices from the Accommodation Industry Skills Test Center (CAIPT) and the test operator.
Are dispatch or contracting arrangements possible?
Only direct employment is allowed in the accommodation field. The hotel or ryokan concludes a direct employment contract as the accepting organization and performs mandatory support itself or outsources it to a registered support organization.
